Iphone 4S screen - horizontal and vertical black lines

Just got my new iPhone 4S 32GB out of the box after much waiting.

Startup screen with the apple logo shows prominent white/black lines - most highlighted as if radiating from the apple logo. Tried restarting / updating / resetting - nothing helped.

Black lines / Gray lines noticeable only with black colors.

Have asked my service providers, through wich I bought the phone on contract and they see the problem.

Have taken my phone for possible repair / replacement.

Anyone else havin similar issues ?

I'm having this issue and have taken my phone to Apple. They ran the hardware test and said it's a software issue and to restore the phone. I did that and now it's worse. Not happy at all...

That is really bad.

I have tried restoring it / updating the firmware - nothing helps.

I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue since I've seen similar issues with other devices - its the LCD that is at fault here and that needs to be replaced.

I read it in some forum here that it would go away with 24 hours of use - tried that - but no effect, with a full charge then drain and charge again - nothing.

So, I'll be sending it off to the dealer - who too thinks it needs repair / replacement.

Will let you know what happens in the next few days.

I have another appointment today and am hoping to walk out with another phone. This is just ridiculous. I can't see who is calling, texting, etc. I've restored 4 times now. Even went as far as to not use a backup to see if that would work and it didn't.
