I too am experiencing issues with battery life after the update. Apple, will need to look into this and I have sent a bug report to them. In the meantime, I'm betting your battery issue is a result of your mailbox(s) constantly checking for mail. Open you mail app and see if the wheel below continues to spin "Checking For Mail" and if there is spinning wheel next to either your Wi-Fi or 3G symbol in the upper left hand corner. If this is the case for you, it would be advisable to turn push off for your mail until this is resolved. You can fetch your mail manually when you open mail, and then it will stope when you close the mail icon. I have had to do this on my iPad and today, my battery life was normal, compared to yesterday, when my device cycled through a fully charge battery in one day.
For anyone who is experiencing this, I encourage you to write Apple at the following URL:
Never had problems with my iPad 2 untill the recent update to 5.0.1. Putted the smart cover on it and next day the batary was dead.
Is your iPad WiFi+3G? My iPhone 4 has significant battery issues with iOS5 and 5.0.1 (until I completely disabled iCloud), but my iPad2 WiFi has had no issues whatsoever.
If it has 3G, try turning off all iCloud services just to test if ther is an improvement. That isn't a solution, but would at least point you in the direction of the problem.
I can point the direction myself. It's buggy 5.0.1 update.
I did not do anything apart from the update.
I just updated to 5.0.1, puted the smart cover on my iPad2, and next day when I removed the cover the batary was dead.
I have no 3G and I don't use iCloud.
I dont have 3g and i turned off icloud services and still it drains very fast than usual i really hope they have a recent fix for that .
Haven't gotten so far as 'battery life' yet. After update with iOS 5.0, I can't get iPad to work at all. Seems not to recognize the iTunes on desktop (iTunes on new HP that I've used w/o any difficulty since purchasing iPad2 six months ago). I'm so discouraged I could scream. iPad's worked virtually flawlessly for 6 months - I download the manufacturer's recommended upgrade and now (when this thing has become my "3rd arm") it's virtually dead. Keeps taking me back to the CONFIGURE page at very beginning, but when select "restore from iTunes backup" it's stuck at the 'CONNECT TO ITUNES' frame, telling me set up is incomplete -- nothing more. Also seems not to recognize the wi-fi it's been happy with for last 6 mo.
Have tried RESET, but no help.
