what happen to my iphone 4 screen?

Ever since installing iOS5 on my iphone 4, my screen become not functioning at all.

After start up, it totally turn black. Eventually you may press the home button to wake the screen but just saw the screen in a blink then it’s gone and back to black screen again. If under a sunlight, u may still see the shadow of the apps button, can feel the vibration, can hear the phone ringing and answer it by sweeping the button in dark (while I am still remember where the answering button located on screen) but you just can’t turn the screen on. I tried so many times to press the home and on/off button to reboot it but still, fail to display the screen normally.

I try to restore it but the stupid download need 3 to 4 hours and while it almost done, a display of time out occur and all my effort to download gone.

I feel so helpless, so disappointed and so regret to update it.

Anyone can help me.

Try to turn up the brightness using a flashlight to see what's on the screen.

Otherwise, it sounds like your backlight has died.

This is completely unrelated to the software.

You will have to take it to Apple. If you are under warranty they most likely wont charge you for this.

i have iphone 4 running ios 5.0.1 and the following happened to me twice:

I hear my phone ringing I get it out of the case to answer and the display is black for a couple of seconds then the caller name appears with the option to "answer" or "reject" to my surprise since the phone had not been used for over an hour and should have locked automatically! Could this be the case, since it covers the phone from front and back! Can it prevent the screen from locking automatically cuz it touches it? However, when it was ringing it was completely black before the display came back on, while if the phone is not locked, the screen is generally dimmed not black. This happened twice with a one month of intervals between them. Also, once it happened that the phone was ringing, the screen is black, but there was no display till I pressed the home button. This time, the phone was locked and displayed "slide to answer"

Please help and tell me if this happened to anyone.
