Unable to find airport device after set up and restarted

I am trying to set up my airport express so that I can stream music from my laptop to home theatre. No issues finding the airport express with the airport utility at first. I set up the airport express which includes switching wireless networks, setting up password, telling the airport express to join current network, wirelessly join the current network, and entering the current network info. As the update occurs I can see the status light on my airport express turn to green. The airport utility however is unable to find my airport device after restarting.

My current network is set up with linksys e3000. My laptop is connecting to this network wirelessly. I am using Windows 7 on my laptop. Under manage wireless networks I can see my current network as well as the new apple network.

Any idea how I get the airport utility to see the airport express now that it appears to be set up with a green status light?

That is because the AirPort Express has switched networks. It is no longer providing the Apple Network xxxxxx in its default setting that is used to communicate with AirPort Utility during the setup.

Close AirPort Utility immediately as soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored successfully. It will never appear in AirPort Utility if you leave it open after you click Update.

Wait for the green light on the Express, then make sure that your computer is logged back on to your regular wireless network.

If the settings are correct on the AirPort Express, you will now be able to open AirPort Utility and "see" the Express because it is now on the same network as your other devices.

I am confused when you say that you can still see the Apple Network xxxxxxx. It is no longer being broadcast as soon as you change the original default setting on the Express. It cannot "join" a network and broadcast another at the same time.

If you know the IP address that has been assigned to the AirPort Express by the Linksys router, you can try the "Contifure Other" method in AirPort Utility to see if that might allow the connection using wireless.

Post back if you need more info on this.

I always had issues with the Windows Firewall blocking connections when I was using PCs a few years ago. Might be worth a check to see if the Firewall is blocking the wireless connection.
