Is there a list of all the cities used for setting time zones?

I've tried looking on the Internet to see if apple published a list of all the time zone cities in ios 5. I work on a cruise ship and am currently in the middle of the Atlantic crossing west to the USA. I am one time zone west of Iceland, but not yet to the Greenland time zone. I have manually adjusted the time, but my emails and stuff are all off due to wrong time zone.

Any help would be appreciated. If I knew what cities are available for searching it would help immensely. :)

I know of no such list. Why not just llok at a map a select a listed city that is in the same time zone.

In the middle of the Atlantic ocean there are a couple of islands in my time zone, but they are not one of the options on the iPod touch. The list of choices is very limited but I don't even know what all it will accept, just that none I've tried will be accepted. It's pretty tedious to try checking each unknown possibility with Apple instead of having a list of known cities that I could reference.

Even better though, if the cities could be dialed up or down rather than typed, with UTC+3 (for example) next to it so you could know that city will work even if you didn't originally know it was in that time zone. Oh one could only dream... :)

Thanks for that thought, but no. On the ship we are set to fort lauderdale by our satellite automatically anywhere in the world for iPod because no gps cell locator, might work if I had an iPhone.

Using safari, go to a site such as www.timeanddate.com and then choose a city that has the same time as you. They are probably all on the iPod, but if not, you should find one that is in the list in a couple of tries. (Note, because of DST {summer time}, a timezone map will not work, but the timeanddate list will.)

Thanks for that tip. I found a site called timegenie.com that let me look up cities in UTC-2 and found a city to try in iPod and it worked. I've now created my own list for each UTC+\- zone that apple likes and I'll keep it as I cruise for future time changes.

Glad you got it set the way you want. Just remember that if you use the ±UTC method, to be sure to pick a city using the same DST protocols as your ship.
