Can't find com.apple.screencapture.plist

Hi all 🙂

So, I'm getting tired of OS X saving my screenshots taken my screen capture as a .tiff, since some websites don't like that particular file format and most of my friends using windows can't open it.

So, I found https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3202106?start=0&tstart=0 but it don't seem to work at all. I've typed the command into terminal, but it dosn't give me a message after typing in and enter. So, i went searching for the file the command should be able to modify, but i can't find it!! com.apple.screencapture.plist seem completely gone. I've used Houdini, (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/26729/houdini), but with no luck.

Am i missing something here?

I just want to change the format på PNG...

Thanks in advance

The default format for screenshots taken using Grab is TIFF.

The default format for screenshots taken using the built-in OS X functions of Command-Shift-3 (entire screen) and Command-Shift-4 (selectable part of screen) is PNG.

If you've been using Grab, try using either of the built-in functions. Grab does offer a few additional mode choices (notably window screenshot and timed screenshot), but for most purposes the built-in functions suffice, and are quicker.
