Camera Connector with Olympus Evolt E300 and iPod 5G 30GB

Help! I am having a very tough time trying to get this to work.

When I connect the camera connector to iPod and Camera it says no card found. I've tried everything I can think of.
Now I am trying to use a USB 2.0 Card Reader by hama and again no luck. My card is a Compact Flash card.

What can I do?

I really need this to work while I am away in Europe.
Has anyone else dealt with this?

Hi,

Sorry if some of this sounds too simple! I took a look at the camera's manual and it sure does look like the E300 should work with the iPod CC (I use one on Olympus and Canon cameras).

Some ideas:

Format the card and take one photo, then put the card in the card reader on a PC or Mac and check for the DCIM folder at the top level? Your one photo should be inside that (possibly in another folder).

If that looks OK, put the card back in the camera, connect up the iPod with CC and then power up the camera - does the camera ask for "PC", "Print" or "Exit"? Selecting "PC" should fire up the iPod CC and it'll ask you if you want to import the photo.

If this is doesn't work then let me know and I'll scratch my bald spot again!

Hi Mike,
Tried what you suggested and still no go. uuggghhh

I am able to see the picture when I connect the camera to computer or if I take the cf card and read it through a card reader. Both work that way.

When I try camera or card reader with iPod CC it doesn't work. The iPod says "no card inserted" and after I select "PC" on my camera it says "one moment" but then nothing ever happens. ???
I've also tried selecting "Print" and that doesn't go anywhere either.

I would think that at least the Card Reader approach would work. This is quite annoying.

Thanks and let me know if you have any other ideas. I'll try anything.

OK, let's try something else. For some reason the 5G can be a bit reluctant to see some devices connected to its dock connection, I've had problems with an iTrip, so try this:

Disconnect the camera from the iPod CC. With the CC still plugged into the iPod's dock connection reboot the iPod (hold "Select" and "Menu" for about five seconds). Once the iPod has restarted plug in the camera, switch on the camera and select "PC" (definitely this option as I checked on mine). With luck the iPod now will give the "Import" option....!
