Returning iPhone 4s ?

I am considering returning my week old iPhone 4s that I purchased from the apple store because of

the terrible battery life, a loud rattle on the camera lens and frequent crashes. I have no 3rd party apps

installed and only use my phone to make calls, check email and browse online. I have tried all the propsed

solutions in these forums for the battery fix.

My new contract is with AT&T. Do I have to call AT&T and cancel my contract first or can I do this at the Apple store?

I also bought the Apple care plus for the phone. I was wondering if I will get a 100% refund for my purchase including the Applecare

plus.

Anyone succesfully return their phone within the 30day period?

Thanks!

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1, 32GB Whilte, AT&T

I returned my iPhone 4S last week successfully. You do have to call AT&T to let them know you're returning your iPhone but Apple will still let AT&T know once your return is fully processed. It takes 3 business days to get your money back to your credit card. If you purchased it online, you must call 800-my-apple and set up a return. They will email you a prepaid label to send it back. if you purchased it at an apple store then you should be able to return it there.

It's funny how when they asked me wat the reason was for returning my phone was, I said because the battery was horrible. But under my order status, it says "changed mind".

I think mine is going back. I already returned one. But the 2nd one is just as bad. I'm tired of a phone that, with all the good stuff turned OFF, still only gets 3.5 hours of WIFI usage and 8 hours standby until it's down less than 20%

I'm a long time "fanboy", owning every iPhone model to date. I currently own 3 iMacs, 2 macbooks, 8 iOS devices, and countless other older Ipods. But the 4S is in whole new category. I think it's a majorly flawed device, with software that was released to millions of people with more than just a "few problems".

I am holding out until the last day of my 30-day return policy while hoping for a software fix. But after seeing the laughable 5.0.1 release - with a statement about how it solved everything except a "a few remaining problems"......my confidence is Apple is rapidly dissolving.

I will continue to return mine every 29 days if I have to. Honestly, I don't think apple will be able to fully resolve the battery issue and I won't get stuck with a battery life this horrible. This and what happened last year with the iPhone 4's antenna and proximity sensor are things that you would never expect from apple. I have been an apple user all my life as well and I don't remember apple making these kinds of mistakes ever, especially in 2 versions of the same product bak to bak.

I too returned my 4S and went back to my trusty iPhone 4.

Thank goodness I didn't install 5.0.1 on the iPhone 4 because it seems more like a STUXNET virus than a software update.

I fear that the real problem is that there is so much going on in the 4s that it will always be hungry for battery power, no matter what software tweaks are made.

It has the same chip as the iPad but with a battery a fraction of its size! Plus is runs Siri, infrared, iCloud functions, and a host of other invisible activities.

Sometimes, less is more.

I am a great fan of Apple products and have not lost faith. But I hope they fix this issue soon.
