Safari - how to escape full screen mode?

I pressed the icon to make Safari display full mode. Now the menu bar disappears unless I hold the cursor toward the top of the screen and I cannot get out of full screen mode. Very annoying, but I find nothing in preferences nor any icon to return it and give me my toolbar bar all the time. What's the secret?
