iTunes Match with Multiple Apple IDs

Before I subscribe to iTunes Match, I wanted to check on how this would work.

My situation:

1. Have pretty old Apple ID used to purchase content from iTMS

2. Have separate iCloud ID.

Which ID should I use to subscribe to iTunes Match?

Does it matter?

If I use my iCloud ID will I have problems listening to songs purchased with my iTunes ID?

Thanks,

Dave

I have an identical situation. I initially set up Match with the old Apple ID, and was annoyed to find that I couldn't turn on Match on my iPhone because it was registered to the iCloud one. However, I have discovered that you can change the store apple ID in iPhone settings / Store to be the one you use for Match. At this point it all works.

So far working well ish... No problem with protected songs... But early days yet. So I would say use the old Apple ID...

Meanwhile, Apple REALLY need to allow you to merge Apple IDs.

I'm in the same boat... I have two separate Apple IDs, one of which has a lot of iTunes media associated with it, and the other only has a couple tracks that I downloaded because I didn't realize I had two separate Apple IDs.

My reading of the literature says that if I sign up for Match with ID #1, it *should* also match anything I've purchased with ID #2 as long as that media is in my library and authorized on the machine that subscribes to iTunes Match.

I was hoping that Match would be the way I could FINALLY consolidate my Apple IDs, and I'd love to hear if it would actually work like this. Anybody give it a try?

I have 2 relevant AppleIDs authorized for the music on my iTunes (ONE old long-time Apple ID for iTunes purchases, bound to pre-mac.com email; ANOTHER newer mac/me.com ID which had mostly been used only for App store stuff until iCloud -- but which I figure has to be the one under which I try to consolidate in the future).

I've taken the plunge (sprang for Match when I was signed in with the newer account) and find that most music from BOTH accounts is getting matched. Turn on the "iCloud status" column in iTunes -- and sort with that column header -- to see what's "Matched" and what's "Uploaded" and what's "Ineligible" (or "Error"). [You can also make "smart playlists" based on iCloud status, which helps troubleshoot.]

I found two albums worth of "ineligible" Music files -- turns out I had forgotten about a third ID at one point about 8 years ago, those two albums were attached to that one. HYPOTHESIS: it won't upload stuff for an account that's not "authorized" for the iTunes incarnation that's hosting the process. I no longer have access to the email, so I assume I can't authorize those.

WORKAROUND: if you have lots of music from old accounts, look for TuneClone (3rd-party app that "burns" virtual CDs from m4a and m4p files, so you can re-import them as if they'd come from CDs.

I'm still nervous, by the way, about Match's warning that it will "replace" the existing library on my iPhone (despite assurances online that nothing is actually removed), and I've enabled Match only on my (small-capacity) iPad for now. Playback requires a few seconds' patience, but I'm pleased to have access to all my files.

Now with a big hard drive on the new iMac I'm finally motivated to import many of those old CDs of music that I knew wouldn't all fit on my iDevices (nor, for that matter, on the hard drive of my older machines).

Do any of you know whether having multiple Apple ID's and iTunes match will interfere with App Store purchases?

Let me eleborate. We have 2 iPhone 4s in the family each with their own apple ID, so obviously some music is purchased by both and some apps are purchased by both. Both devices synchronize with a single library in iTunes. My fear is that when I flip the switch on iTunes Match it will lock me or the other individual out from the purchases that we share on our devices and result in a nightmare. From what I understand once you log into iTunes match you cant log into another account for 90 days. Would appreciate some clarification if any of you know.

Thanks for your input.

Similar issues. My wife's iTunes library has all of our music. I moved it to Match yesterday. She also has an iPad and iPhone. These also worked well with her library as do two Apple TV's. However, I also have a PC with iTunes, and iPad and iPhone. The PC is file... I use her store id. However, the applications I purchased from my account for the iPhone and iPad will no longer get updates and are not listed as these devices are now logged in as my wife's account. I can log off and on which has to reset the Match library to get updates. We are ok with purchasing music and managing it from a single account. IS THERE ANOTHER WAY?

By the way since iCloud uses a different ID we are ok with the contacts and calendars which continue to be separate.

Thanks
