Why won't my speakers work on my iPhone 4S when I remove the headset from audio jack?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:

    Restart..  Reset..  Restore...

Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...

Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...

Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...

Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)

    Release the Buttons...

    Turn the Phone On...

My Iphone 4s started the same problem after I spilled on it. The whole phone was covered except the dock port so that is where I started. I used a can of air and blew it out for about 30 seconds. This in itself had no effect. I saw that it would work after unplugging the usb charger for a few seconds. it also worked as long as the wall charger was plugged in. Willing to try anything I plaved a couple songs and then unplugged it while still playing a few times and each time it would play a little longer but still not more than a minute. Not ready to give up I repeated this process the next few days. Leaving it play for entire audiobooks. eventually whatever dirt or moisture worked its way out and works perfectly again. I can't say for sure this is a real cure or I was just lucky but it worked.
