iPhone 4S Screenshots

Probably a bug in 5.0.1. Wait for the next update. That is wierd though, cuz I have a 4S on 5.0.1, screenshots just fine.

Have you tried a Reset...

Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release the buttons...

I'm having screenshot issues and pretty sure it's a SOFTWARE issue. Here's why:

- Got a warranty replacement iPhone 4 a couple of months ago. It would not take screenshots. Did two complete resets and still would not work. Was told by Apple it was a hardware issue and they would replace it. I was lazy and knew I was upgrading soon to the 4S, so didn't replace it right away.

- Got my iPhone 4S yesterday. Installed everything and realize it TOO would not take screenshots. Reset and installed from backup again and...same issue. No screenshots.

I am doing it properly and have tried all combinations of the home and lock button. My screen just locks.

Try this, in order...

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button.

Then press and release the Home button.

Now release the Sleep/Wake button.

Works fine on my 4S

Tried that and it didn't work. Here's what is really strange. A coworker of mine also got a 4S and she cannot take screenshots with her phone either. I have another coworker who got a 4S and am going to see if she's here today and is able to take screenshots. There has to be some sort of bug.

Just tested paulcb's suggestion and worked perfectly on my 4S.

Pushing home button and power button at the same time and letting it go quickly takes the screen shot. It works for me. BTW I am on 5.0.1

No problem on my 4S

Did you follow my directions precisely, noting the specific times to hold and release?

If yours truly doesn't work, you may have a button problem.

It's not a bug or it would affect most if not all users. Yours is the first I've heard of that didn't work after learning the correct method.

And are you sure you are doing them at the same time? And just quickly tapping and releasing?

If you really think this is a problem, you could try restoring it.
Plug in to iTunes, find your device on the left column, press the Restore button.
If not, then it may indeed be a button problem for which you should probably get a replacement.

We have solved our problem!! In my case, the inability to take screenshots is due to a bug in the Good Technology app. My coworkers and I use this to check our work email. I did a little survey and discovered that all of us with iPhones and with this app installed are unable to take a screenshot. Apparently, the app installs a security patch or something on our phones and, in doing so, disables the screenshot function. Our ISTS department did not think this was intentional and they are looking into getting it resolved.

Just tested this, as I was having the same problem. It worked perfectly.

Its no software problem. Just press and hold the home button for 2 seconds then quickly click and release the wake/sleep button. It will take screenshot of ur iphone.

At 1st i faced the same problem, but after i tried this i got screenshot of my iphone(iphone 4s v.5.0.1)

My problem looks similar to yours. We have a middleware application called Mobile Iron to access our company email and calendar. There are also several installed profiles like requiring a strong passcode instead of the 4-digit PIN, etc.

I am unable to take a screenshot on my 4s v5.0.1.
