iCloud server conflict?

iCloud server conflict?

Hi,

I'm having issues with my mac email.

i used to have a mobile me account which I upgraded to icloud recenlty. The problem i'm having is on my mac, there seems to be some kind of server issue. Emails are arriving ok but i have difficulty sending them. When I try to send, I get an error saying -

"Cannot send message. This message could not be sent because your account does not have a preferred outgoing mail server. select an outgoing mail server from the list below -

matt_bell@me.com (icloud, offline)

smtp.mac.com:matt_bell (offline)

Can you advise what i need to do please?

Go to the iCloud control panel and turn Mail off, then turn it on again.

Thanks for replying but still no joy.

i get an error message saying 'Cannot send message using the server smtp.mac.com. The sender address matt_bell@me.com was rejected by the server smtp.mac.com. Select a different ougoing mail server.....

It then gives me 2 options - Matt_bell@me.com (iCloud, Offline) or smtp.mac.com

Neither work when i select them. the icloud one gives me a further error message saying - 'MFMessageErrorDomain error 1032)

The smtp.mac.com one says it was rejected by the server still.?

i'm confused.

Thanks,

I can change the outgoing server but I can't alter the incoming server as they are both greyed out. One of them says 'p99-imap.mail.me.com' and the other is empty.

Its telling me that it can't be left empty but won't let me change it?

Not sure what's up with that but delete the account and then put it back manually
