By the way, if iTunes matched your album, the iTunes Sidebar will display the album on the right. If you right click on the cover art there and choose copy this link, you can paste it into a browser. The URL will be like this: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/roll-away-your-stone/id355891434. You can then right click on the artwork displayed and choose "Open Image in New Tab." Your URL will look something like this: http://a3.mzstatic.com/us/r1000/079/Features/4d/43/d8/dj.qtdhtyqi.170x170-75.jpg. Remove the 170x170-75 part so that it's like this: http://a3.mzstatic.com/us/r1000/079/Features/4d/43/d8/dj.qtdhtyqi.jpg. Viola, iTunes artwork. Drag and drop that into the 'Get Info.'

After I removed the numbers and copyed the new link. Where under the get info do I need to place it?

There are several places to replace art, but if it is for an entire album, I do it by highlighing all tracks in the album then doing a get info. The first tab has an artwork window. I just drag it there. Seems like if I do it any other way, it doesn't copy to all of the tracks. Done right, you'll probably see the track names fly by as they process.

try going to settings on your iphone, then icloud, then documents and data, turn documents and data on. allowing documents and data from apps to be stored in icloud seems to have worked for fixing all my missing artwork on my iphone with itunes match.

i had this enabled before on my iphone but the covers didn't show up anyway. but it may be a requirement for the way it worked for me.

i opened the music app when i was on wifi and selected the album view. as soon as i did that the loading circle in the status bar went on and the covers of the actual page were loaded. now i just scrolled down and waited for the next covers to load before i went on.

maybe that's a help for somebody

Simple solution.

In Itunes, right-click the file that has lost the artwork and select 'delete'. Make sure you use the option 'Keep File' so it doesn't actually delete the file.

Now go to File, Add to Library, and basically add the file in again.

The artwork should now reappear.

I finally fixed my missing artwork issue AND the general sluggish/unresponsive behavior of the Music app on my iPhone 4 (an issue I've been having ever since I updated to iOS 5 and got iTunes Match). It's pretty simple - just desync/clear all your music off your device, then re-sync. The artwork for all my music was working fine on Mac OS X, however, the art was only showing up for the first track of a CD on my iPhone.

Here are the steps I took:

1. (On your iDevice) Goto Settings - Music and turn off iTunes Match

2. Plug your iDevice into your computer

3. Open iTunes, click your iDevice in the left side bar

4. Go to the music tab on your device's settings screen on iTunes, uncheck “Sync Music.” This will remove all music from your device. Apply changes and sync.

5. After the sync finishes go back to the music tab and recheck “Sync Music.” Apply your changes and sync your music back to your iPhone/iPod.

6. Once you're synced up, you can turn iTunes Match back on on your iDevice. (Settings - Music)

Note: This obviously may require you to let your phone sync overnight if you have a large library synced to your device. If you manually manage what music syncs to your device, I recommend creating a new playlist in iTunes called iPhone (or iPad or iPod), and drag the music you want on your device to the playlist, then sync only the playlist. This lets you have a backup blueprint of sorts for exactly which music you want on your device in case you need to restore your device at any point (or in this case, re-sync your music as a troubleshooting step).

As many of you I've lost my artworks after turning on iTunes Match on my iPhone.

After downloading and re-downloading songs from the clouds, artworks are randomly appearing/disappearing.

First I thought it was only on songs I've ripped myself. But then I discovered that it was the same for songs I was downloading from the iTunes store.

I've spent hours and hours checking song after song, playing all of them.

What I've noticed is that you have the spinning wheel every time you play a song and I guess it's because the artwork is not embedded in each track anymore.

Maybe that's the way they saved a few KB on each song stored in the clouds (big deal).

So, if artworks are not stored locally you need an internet connection to get them on demand.

It's fine when you are connected to a wifi or a good 3G network.

But most of the time, I'm using my iPhone on the street or in the subway where you lose the network… a phone is a MOBILE device, right.

I've ended turning off iTunes Match on my iPhone and synced my music the way we used to before, and I have all my artworks back.

I won't turn it on back until the next update because I can't stand that frustration and loss of time anymore...

I didn't do Match yet but did move from a 2009 Mini to a new frefurb iMac. Get Artwork didn't work and it was stuff I had bought from iTunes or previously used Coverscout to get missing art.

I think I found the fix. Right click on the first song (TV show, etc) and select "Get Info." Now I am just hitting next a zillion times and that seems to restore the artwork. Tedious but selectiong multiples didn't seem to restore the artwork. I only have 10K+ songs so it shouldn't take long;-})

Delete the first song in the album you are having trouble with from your iTunes library and icloud (keep the file on the hard drive when prompted though). Then add the song from whereever the file was stored and the album art will be on your OS device. For some reason the first song of every album keeps the rest of the album from correctly displaying album art via match on an OS device.

I am having this issue as well and would like to find a real fix. I don't have time to go mucking around with track numbers or deleting/readding files.

Actually This problem can be easily done by "Copy and deleting music from your computer", and "move them back into "iTunes' Auto insert into iTunes folder (under your music folder)", iTunes will upload them again and it will be fixed.

The problem is due to the album only exist in your computer but was not phisically copied in the iTunes iCloud (Reason unknown).

Also sometimes you may find you want to update an incorrect artwork for an album. You insert the new artwork into the album and it looks fine in your computer. But after iTunes match re-sync, the incorrect art-work appears again. You just can not get rid of the incorrect artwork.

This is iTune's bug. You may be patient to wait until Apple fixes it, or do the following procedures to get it done temporarily with minimum effort. (I say temporarily because you may iadd new albums after you fix your current database, and the problem may happen until iTunes bug is fixed by Apple)

1. Turn your iDevices iTunes match off, remove all music on the device. make sure there is no music in it.

2. Turn the iTunes match on the iDevice again.

3. Your iPad or iPhone or Apple TV will start to download the Album info from iTunes cloud. While it is downloading, keep your iDevice on the iTunes app and drag through the album list. (Please use WiFi to do this step)

4. About an hour it should be completely synced. if you see artworks are missing, then it means the artwork does not exist in the iTunes cloud. No matter how you update in your computer it just does not upload into iCloud.

5. Creat a smart play list for "songs do not have art work" - then you should have a list of songs without artwork.

6. Drag them (copy) to a clean folder names "backup". Then you should have a extra copy in the folder "backup".

7. Delete the songs both from your computer and iCloud. (The copy in iTunes) then you should see those albums without artwork start to disappear from your iPad/iPhone etc. When you see no missing artwork album on ipad this step is done.

8. Move the extra copy in the folder "backup"

9. iTunes will automatically insert them back to your library.

10 iTunes match will start to upload them again to iCloud.

11. It should be mostly fine. If there is anything missing again, repreat from step 1 (because this is a bug of iTunes match - it just happens)

re-Uploading takes time but at least it your computer works not yourself.

Before re-upload, one thing is VERY important I forgot to mention is - make sure the artwork is embedded with the file, not in your iTunes' database. To check if the artwork is with the file or not, browse the file in icon mode. If you see th artwork then it is, otherwise you need to copy-paste the artwork to each file (not the album)

How to do: select all track of an album, and then copy the artwork to all of them. (Don't just select the album)

The reason is iTunes match does not upload your artwork unless it is with your files. Thus when it is synced into iPad you won't see the artwork.
