iMac g3 beeps 3 times

I have an iMac g3 that two days ago was running OS x 10.2.8, I installed OS 9.1 and restarted it. When it turned on it beeped three times, and nothing on the screen. I managed to get it to turn on and load the OS, but it still beeps. I really need this running due to it is my school computer at home. It has come up with a warning. A few times in OS 9.1 saying the hard drive has an error, but the computer worked fine. Please help!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Three beeps indicates that your RAM is faulty, you need to get new memory. Your hard drive may also be faulty if it has warned you, try booting from your install disc and run Apple Hardware test.
