ps3 controller

Is there a way to get the PS3 Dualshock controller to work on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8? My computer recognizes the controller on bluetooth, but it doesn't seem to respond. I'm trying to set it up to play Lego Star Wars with. Some videos on YouTube show people playing LSW on a Mac with a PS3 controller, so I'm thinking it's possible, I just haven't found a clear explanation of how to set it up. Any help would be much appreciated.
