How do I downgrade to iOS4.x? I would rather give up all of the improvements of iOS 5.x than suffer another second with the ugly and functionally deplete Music App 'upgrade'

There is no official way to downgrade the system software.
People in other threads have recommended the app Groove for iPad as a substitute for the built in Music app.

Jailbreaking or any other unofficial/unsupported modifications cannot be duscussed, per the Boards' T.O.U.
You'd need to look elsewhere for such information. Internet search engines are practically like magic these days. 🙂
Thanks to everyone who wrote. I was hopeful that I could restore the previous iOS upgrade from my network backup, but the file never made it. I am hesitant to use a version I can find on an unofficial site online but may chance it if I get frustrated enough.
A valuable lesson learned. I have blindly bought new iPods, iPhones and iPads everytime a new flavour came out and have applied the updates immediately, trusting Apple. Needless to say that cycle ends here.
If Apple doesn't relegate the new music app to the trashcan, I will not even bother buying the iPad 3 when is comes out.
The iPad iOS 5 music app is so terrible, I need to downgrade to iOS 4.x... how?
