iTunes Match taking forever to upload artwork

I've been having trouble with the third step of iTunes Match. It will complete steps 1 & 2 but then during step 3 it will stop and just sit there and make no progress. Every time I stop it and start it, it just gives me a lower number of complete artwork. For example: It will say 133 of 756 and stay there for more than 5 hours so I stop it and then it says 50 of 534 and stop and now it says 0 of 119. Any suggestions?

Actualy, in terms of bandwidth, metric system is used: 1 Mbps = 1,000 kbps rather than 1,024.

Apple also changed the way it counts units of data as of I believe 10.6, changing it to pure metric (1,000 K = 1 M) instead of binary (1,024 K = 1 M).

The tech world has started adopting a new naming convention, "kibibytes" for example to refer to binary counting instead of "kilobytes", which is metric.

I'm having the same issue it's been a few days now and it is stuck on the third step. I called Apple about this and they said it had to do with the number of people using the system at this time. I have a follow up call with Apple on Saturday to resolve this issue hopefully it will be resolved before then. Also I came home tonight just to see the itunes Match had stared over again. It went through the first two steps flawlessly but is stuck on the tird step and moving painfully slow. I'm not sure why it stoped in the first place could have to do with my baby sitter using my computer to charge her ipod, not sure. But it is starting to get on my nerves this service seems to have a number of bugs I will have to wait till Saturday to talk to an Apple tech since I have an appointment then to reolve these issues.

ISP is just a small part of the problem. First off, the matching is not great. Less than 50% of the songs purchased from iTunes matched. Of the almost 17,000 songs in my library, less than a 30% matched. This is not what I was expecting or hoping for. Going on almost 36 hours, it appears that my library is only about 30% matched so far. This is only marginally better than I did with Google when I was going to have to upload everything. I did it for abit over 24 hours and had about 20% uploaded and gave up. I am not sure if match is worth it. I lost all playlist on my phone.

I'm having the same problem. It's definitely a software bug. Unfortunately I've got 4,000 songs to upload (Match recognized 12k of 16k songs). I'm lucky if 50 upload before step 3 stops (I've left it overnight with no change in the number of songs uploaded). I then have to Stop and restart the iTunes match process ... which takes a solid 10-15 minutes to get back to Step 3. Once it gets back there, the songs recommence uploading ... until it next hangs.

Also having the same problem. It's uploading one song every 10-15 minutes and seems to hang after a certain period where there'll be zero progress over a 1-2 hour interval. The idea that the server is overloaded doesn't make sense to me as it's seems equally sluggish at all hours of the day even early morning. Plus, the first two steps also require connections to the server and those steps all happen quickly and with no issues. I sure wish there was a fix for this. I can't use iTunes Match on my other devices (desktops, laptops etc) until my first device is complete.

Same problem here. For the first few days (I started the first day iTunes Match was available), it would upload between 15 and 25 songs each time I'd start the sync process, then hang. But the good news was, as painful as it was, it was making progress at ~20 songs per try. Now for the last few days it's 100% stuck. I can stop/restart all day long, and it gets to step three -- 1 out of 652 items uploaded.

I noticed back when was at least uploading the 15-25 items that it would identify each song as it uploaded it. But as soon as it hit 'the limit' the status at the very top stopped showing song titles and changed to the generic "Uploading remaining songs and artwork".

So if it's stuck on a song, how do I figure out what song it is? Now I have 652 songs that for almost a week now are not available on the devices that I enabled for iTunes match.

Has anyone from Apple acknowledged anything about this obvious bug?

Thanks.

Mine is absolutely painful as well. My guess is either Apple is throttling at iCloud or there's a software bug.

I was just watching my activity monitor as iTunes was uploading a file in the background. It was showing 120KB/s upload.

I closed iTunes, launched dslreports.com and ran a speed test and immediately it showed I had 1 Mb/s upload speeds. I ran it three times across various servers around the country.

Closed the browser, opened iTunes and it kicked right back to a whopping 120 KB/s.

At this rate, it will be months before it's done.

Utterly useless.

My iTunes has not uploaded a single track and it has been running continuously since the service was launched. There is definitely a bug in the application.

Who did you complain to? I wrote a problem report to the Apple help(less) desk. No response so far. And I'm still stuck at 1 of 544 (have been there for about a week now). Restarting match doesn't make any difference. It goes through the first two steps and then halts on 1 of 544.

What kind of a complaint did you file? Scary if they are fixing these one at a time....
