I've been working on a video project for school, and I've been doing my recording on my iPad. Will I be able to edit those videos in iMovie? I will be doing the editing on a Mac and not the iMovie app for iPad, just to clarify.

Yes, these should work. Just hook the iPad up to the Mac with iMovie installed. Then go to the File Menu > Import from Camera. Treat the iPad like it's a camera and you should be able to get the video clips into iMovie that way.
I also tried this, but the only camera recognized by iMovie is the built in camera on my iMac. I cannot see the iPad to download the movies.
