Nov 15, 2011 10:48 AM in response to richardfromberkeleyby Roddy,Unlike most other methods of creating a website, where its "normal" to name the home page "index", iWeb doesn't allow you to do this since it creates its own index.html file automatically.
The URL to the home page is in the index.html file produced by iWeb and, by default, this is the page at the top of the right column.
The simplest way is to drag the page you want to be the Home page up to the top in the iWeb window and republish the site. Otherwise you would need to add its URL to the index.html file manually every time you publish changes to the site.

Nov 15, 2011 11:04 AM in response to Roddyby richardfromberkeley,I suspect this answer assumes I am using the default nav bar, but I'm not. I suppressed the default nav bar and created of my own. Is there a way to deal with this problem with a custom nav bar? (Or perhaps I could call up the default nav bar, drag the new page there and tben supress it again?)

Nov 15, 2011 3:51 PM in response to richardfromberkeleyby richardfromberkeley,Hi Old Toad--
I've used the inspector to hyperlink from a word on my site to another page on the site, but that's not what I'm doing here. I want to change the home page so that my new home page will come up when people come to the site. I need to let iWeb know that people who type in the URL of my site should be directed to the new home page.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say "select the text for the link." The text is a whole page with many elements. I tried selecting the page in the bar that appears on the left side of my iWeb page, but the Inspector box for links doesn't illuminate when I do that.

Mar 5, 2015 5:17 PM in response to richardfromberkeleyby Domestic Diva,I created my website nearly 6 years ago with iWeb. It's hosted at GoDaddy. When I first started I didn't understand a lot about all this and know only slightly more now. Under "Site 1" on my left menu in iWeb the first page is the home page with this very unhelpful description of my site "Create-home-decor-jewelry-recipes-fashion.". As you can see I meant it when I said I had no clue starting out. I desperately want to change those words now to get better results in searches but I'm terrified to make the change because I don't understand what the ramifications might be. I've never changed the words and republished but lwhen I've tried substituting the words with new ones all the pages go read indicating the entire site will have to republish and that scares me. I have a very big site and I'm afraid of losing it, iWeb crashing, or links on the internet and Google no longer finding me, etc. My site offers Free Craft Tutorials and that's what the description on that home page should say, nothing more. So my question is, what are the ramifications, if any, for making this change? I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

Mar 6, 2015 2:29 AM in response to Domestic Divaby Wyodor,So this is your page :
http://www.domestic-divaonline.com/Site_1/Create-home-decor-jewelry-recipes-fash ion.html
Luckily you provided the keywords otherwise I wouldn't have found the page :
http://www.google.com/searchq=create+home+decor+jewelry+recipes+fashion
Leave it that way.

Can you please expand just a bit so that I can understand your suggestion to "leave it that way"?
