Smart Playlists not syncing correctly to iPhone/iPad with iTunes Match

Thanks for trying. No luck. Folder, no folder. ALL my smart playlists show up on iOS device (iphone 4 ios 5.0.1) empty. Regular playlists show the first 6 songs ONLY - regardless of how many songs are actually in it. OSX 10.7.2, iOS 5.0.1 iTunes 10.6 Thanks for trying, 8Gaston8

I went into iphone settings --> music --> turn on iTunes match. After that everything synced

So basically, what Apple is saying is that for $24.99 per year, you can fix this bug. Sad, sad, sad...

Yeah, you have to repeat this process everytime you sync. It is a pain.

the problem for me only arose when I created a smart playlist with multiple rules - all that appeared in the Iphone playlist were the songs based on the 3rd rule (although the songs themselves were on the Iphone).

I got round this by creating a 2nd smart playlist which has a single rule, that the song is in the first playlist, and then sync the second playlist to the Iphone.

This seems to work OK, and has the benfit of being fully 'automatic'.

Though of course I should not have to do this!

Itunes match is not a solution to my playlist sync problem. My problem started shortly after installing Lion. It is not just smart playlists but also regular playlist that will have one or two out of 10 or 20 songs. I have tried most things short of restoring my phone.

"This workaround of creating a dummy smart playlist works. Simply create a new smartplaylist that is empty. Set it to Playlist contains (the name of your smartplaylist). Set it to Live updating, limit to whatever number you wish, match only checked items as you normally would.

I found a solutuion that appears to work (at least it did for all of my out of order playlists on the ipod touch). By adding the rule "Playlist--Is--Music" all of the smart playlists that have that rule are in the same order that they are in in itunes. I hope this solution works for everyone as it did for me.

This is the exact problem i have. I have all brand new mac equipment. I used to be able to sync the podcasts in this manner on my previous mac devices, and now this won't work. I'm angry and am pretty busy and just want this solved. I tried the work around, and it didn't work. C'mon apple, get this thing right. It's some code somewhere. Put some people on it and make a patch.

I agree. It's been a few months now that this problem with iTunes match and Smart Playlists not working properly has been going on and nothing has been fixed.

I may have found an easier (?) solution.

My iPhone was only showing about 5 playlists out of the 30 or so on the Mac.

I'm currently sitting in a cafe with Mac tethered to the Phone (the point being, they're connected via wifi but not cable)

The iPhone is WiFi syncing with iTunes on the Mac

If I edit a Smart Playlist on Mac & cancel out of the edit window, it appears on the iPhone.

I've done this to about 10 & they've all appered.

To get a non-Smart Playlist to appear (there's no edit for them) I just right-clicked & selected 'Open in New Window'

Basically, it seems that if you make iTunes on the Mac reevaluate a Playlist, it appears on the iPhone.

I suspect this will work with a cable connection as well, though I haven't tried that

How to sync playlist into iPhone? Since I activated iTunes Match in my computer and iPhone, the music tab is simply greys out and says I can access music from iCloud, and there is only "Sync Voice Memo" under Music tab, and there is no any playlist show up that I can sync into iPhone..:(

A better Solution that worked for me and doesn't add more playlists is to simply duplicated the Smart Playlists that you want to sync and delete the original, sync again and done, it worked for me with an Ipod 4 and Itunes, both with the lates version
