Q: Export Master Bug

Hello,

After much trial and error I found a bug.

I have an aperture library that is about 80GB (13,500 images) - I selected the entire 13,500 images and exported > Masters to another volume.

The export would crash everytime.

I narrowed down the export into chunks 5,000 at a time, still crash..   Then 2,500 at a time, 1,000 at a time..

I finally narrowed it down to the exact few images...  There was about 5 of them that repeatedly crash the app.

*However* If I select those same images and export >Version, they export fine.

What did these images have different about them??    All of these images were given to me by other people.   Shot with someone elses camera, not imported via my iPhone or my DSLR.  But either emailed or given to me on a jump drive..  Just those images.

Why does this break Aperture on export >Masters..  I have no idea

Happy Tuesday

Jason, this may be a permissions issue, run disk Utility, repair permissions and also repair permissions on your library, if it is a referenced library check ownership of the volume and ensure that the folders and files affected are read/write by you/everyone.

Ya, it could be.  Good point.

I have all my files stored on a Drobo and "repair permissions" is not an option..  Hmmm

Have exactly the same problem. Certain photos are causing Aperture to crash exporting the master. Version is fine. Done all the repairs options possible. Even tried finding the master manually, reimporting to Aperture and yet still crashes on export. Still same problem on 3.2.2 - Contacted Apple - they have ignored me.

Yep, I'm also having Export problems of my photos. In Aperture 2 after upgrading to Snow Leopard. My files are referenced on an external FW drive so I too cannot repair permissions on this drive. It does sound like a permissions thing though, so any ideas how to fix the Aperture database (which resides on the external drive)

Guys get info on your external drives, check that

the disk is formatted for Mac OS Extended

ignore ownership on this volume is selected

sharing & permissions is set so that you have Read & Write

find the offending files and check them to ensure that you have read & write permissions with each file, also check the folders they are residing in.

ALso run through the steps listed in the
