Q: This item was not added to iCloud because an error occurred.

I have approximately 400 songs that have the iCloud icon with a slash through it. When I click on the icon, I get this message: This item was not added to iCloud because an error occurred.

Right clicking, and selecting "Add to iCloud" does not work. iTunes will check the song, and does not return an error, but it also doen not upload the song.

"iCloud Status", in iTunes , for the songs not uplaoded is "Error".

I have searched the internet, and see that many people ar having the same issue, but right clicking, and selecting "Add to iCloud" seems to work for them.

If anyone could offer suggestions to fix this, I would appreciate it.

In case you are on the process of join iTunes Match,

    1. Stop iTunes Match

    2. Store Menu -> Sign Out

    3. Store Menu -> Sign In

    4. Store Menu -> Turn On iTunes Match

It will be better way to go.

nope...3+years later this is still an issue for me. Makes me regret ever giving apple my money in the first place this is stupid because all of these songs were uploaded to icloud from my old laptop, then downloaded from icloud to my Macbook and now trying to upload them back to icloud after reactivating itunes match to get them on my new desktop computer as well I keep getting a crap load of errors and failed uploads for half of my songs and trying to convert them on my macbook I get another error that the disk could not be read from or written to. This kind of *****, all I want is to have the music that I paid for transfered ont MY computer using the service that I PAID for but I guess thats too much to ask for.

I have an even worse version of this problem. Lots of tracks that were in iCloud no longer are, and they are also now unplayable on my iPod. It is as though iTunes has deleted them, and I no longer have the CDs.

Also right clicking on each track does not give me the option 'convert to mp3'

I have this same issue and I've seen how to fix it, however, I'm not doing that for several hundred songs.  With that in mind and given that this issue is 6 years old and still exists, I need to ask: Apple, when are you going to fix this or are you just going to Microsoft it?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The problem is most likely to be with individual tracks rather than a bug in the iTunes Match process.

Sometines trying to add to iCloud music libray works but if it doesn't, You should delete the existing files from your library and either readd them from your back up, from your original source or rerip them from the original CDs. You can of course try converting them from MP3 to AAC or vice versa and try adding the new version to the iCloud music library.

    Jim
