32GB memory in a 27 in. mid 2010 iMac.
Does a 27" iMac i7 mid 2010 support 32GB of memory ?
Does a 27" iMac i7 mid 2010 support 32GB of memory ?
no
Yes, it supports 32GB of memory.
Apple officially only supports 16 GB, but OWC has tested it with 32 GB.
I said it has been tested with 32 GB.
Anyone knows if configs with 2x2GB plus 2x8GB (so totally 20GB) will work on this?
Any recommendation for a specific Memory manufacturer/model?
Thanks, Felix
I wouldn't recommend mixing Ram. I would just stick to 16Gb or get another 2x8Gb of ram. Crucial and Corsair. I have 4x8Gb Corsair Mac memory from Newegg.
Hi all
Thanks for the memory discussion. I also have a mid-2010 iMac 27" and am trying to upgrade the memory (from factory 4gb) to 32gb. I've purchased four Crucial modules of 8MB each (DDR3L 1333 SODIMM). I followed the simple instructions and believe all 4 modules are well seated in slots - but when I turn on Mac it says I only have 16 gb and even shows me 2 of the slots are empty and 2 of them have 8gb modules in them. Has anyone run into this problem and do you have a fix for it please?
Oh wait.. I apologize and have found the problem. It WAS a simple as two of the memory module were not seated properly! I really thought they were until I opened it again and saw the misalignment. It works like a charm now and this old iMac has a new burst of life with the 32gb jolt :-)
