I dropped my iphone 3G in the bath today. Took the sim card out and put the phone in a bag of rice.
What I want to know is, if my phone can't be revived and I have to buy a new one, where are all my contacts and texts? Gone for good, or on the card?

Information is not stored on the SIM card of an iPhone...
Your Information should be on the Computer you Sync with...
About Backups
The data stored on the SIM is phone and contact stuff. For music, photos, and everything else, hopefully you did an iCloud or iTunes backup, so when you get a replacement, you can "Restore from Backup."
They are not in the sim card.
Your contacts should be on your computer.
Any text should be backed up to your computer also.
