There is a software error which causes the Step 3, upload to iTunes, to hang.

I've tried the following unsuccessfully.

1. Restart iTunes. Interestingly, iTunes will not restart in this condition suggesting a hung process. One must force quit.

2. Check for and remove 'dead tracks'

3. Download and reinstall iTunes

4. Restart iTunes match

5. Reboot iMac

6. Run Disk Utility / Repair permissions. Also ran Disk Utility / Repair

None of the above has any effect on the problem.

There is no upload restriction for my ISP - don't tell me that it is my ISP Apple.

This is NOT a "slow upload" problem. This is a FAILURE TO UPLOAD problem.

Note I am running fully updated iMac with Lion.

Thank you.

Yea same here. Applecare told me it was my firewall. I doubted it. Turned off all firewall and securities and tried all over again. Still stuck at step 3. Internet is fine. iTunes store connects just fine. It is NOT a connection issue. This need to be fixed ASAP. Paying customer here.

Same problem, began matching yesterday morning and it stuck sometime last night.  Nothing has been matched all day, tried all the steps you listed.  Maybe it's stuck on one file?  I'm new to OSX, is there an error log we can check?

same issue, i have 61 songs remaining to upload and it gets stuck everytime. It doesnt even show any progress on the status bar. Its just saying "uploading remainings songs and album cover" ive tried a couple of times to start the process from scratch but it gets stuck on the same 61 all the time. I also noticed that i can no longer quit itunes unless i kill the process and my cpu and the fan is starting to run like craaaazy.

I think match may have a problem with purchased songs with a different apple ID but what am i supposed to do. I cant skip those songs and if i delete em during matching and put em back on after. Ill have the same problem again

This service really hasnt been thought through

Step 3 still stuck. These new methods were not successful.
    1. Stopped Match service on all devices

    2. Logged into iMac as another OS/X user
    3. Imported iTunes Music Library from my "real" OS/X user account

    4. Logged into Apple store as my "real" Apple Store account

    5. Subscribed to Match again

    6. Successfully completed Match steps 1 and 2

    7. Step 3 still completely stuck with zero upload

    8. Tried all of the above again after shutting down iMac and unplugging it for 1 minute.

    9. Tried all of the above in single user mode

Stuck on Step 3, when I look at system activity, iTunes is using 100% of one of my core duo processors, yet nothing is being uploaded. It's threading through dynlib and a bunch of other stuff. I think it is stuck in a loop of some kind.

If anybody hears from Apple on this issue let me know. Note that the first device, my MacBook Pro, worked perfectly through 1, 2, and 3.

I can appreciate the tremendous complexity of the Match iCloud service, creating and utilizing many thousands of digital fingerprints of songs from various devices. It appears that they were not able to provide a 'debug' mode when inconsistencies occur.

Interesting about songs purchased with more than one Apple ID. That's the case for my library also.

ok. i got a "work around" but its not really a solution. i checked itunes for music with "error", "different purchase ID" and "unsupported" (low bitrate) cloud status and backed those up and deleted them from iTunes. after that it uploaded the rest of my "waiting" song just fine.

i really think theres a bug on step 3 for those files i mentioned

I don't know how to turn off "Correct Answer", I meant to say "Like".

Interesting. I have 20 songs that are under my old 'bad' aol ID that Apple won't authenticate. Strangely, as I mentioned even with these songs my MacBook pro completed Step 3, but not my iMac. GRRR!

Hey everyone...I've been futzing with iTunes Match since the beta was released (I'm a developer) and every time I started iTunes Match it would lockup all my applications usually at Step 1 but sometimes at Step 2 (I could move between them but everyone was beachballing). I've tried for months to get iTunes Match working without result. I would close every app to give it maximum CPU and memory, repair permisions and every other Snake Oil remedy I could think of, without luck. Then today I had a breakthrough. Here's what I did and hopefully it helps someone else:

    1. Enable iTunes Match, let it run and lockup/stall/freeze at least once. Restart iTunes and go to iTunes Match in the left bar and click the "stop" button.

    2. Go back to your music library, right click on the column names at the top and add "iCloud Download" and "iCloud Status". You should see all your tracks as "Waiting...".

    3. Select a group of tracks (I do about 500 at a time), right click and chose "Add to iCloud"

    4. iTunes will whirl for a bit and with a bit of luck you'll see it actually processing and uploading/matching music.

    5. Repeat this for the rest of your library (increasing the number of tracks you selected if you're brave) and in no time you should be up and running on iCloud.

It's a bummer that the technology isn't better but at least I found a way to get it going.

In step #3, I don't see an "Add to iCloud" option when I right-click a track, any track. I do see songs with the cloud, some with a cloud with a line through it, and most others without an icon in the iCloud Status column.

Did you stop iTunes match from running as described in the latter part of step 1?

Removing unsupported and error files worked for me.  Thanks!!

Like PatrickL, I also don't see "Add to iCloud" when right-clicking a selected group of tracks on "waiting" status.  What am I missing?  Can it be that developers' iTunes build is different?
