Q: iphone4s can't use China Mobile's sim card after updating to 5.01

I've changed my sim card at China Mobile store in Guangzhou and it turns out that I can't even make 1 phone-call!! The staff told me that because there's problems or bugs with the 5.01 upgrade. Now I was forced to use China Telecom and everything's smooth like heaven. Hope apple will have an update for the China Mobile's user^^

It's a little different here in China.  You should still be able to do calls with no cellular data network.  By inputting network info you get data and mms on top.

Looks like I'll be carrying 2 phones for the next little while. :-(

Changing the sim-card may not be a right way to solve the signal problem.

Lots of China Moblie users had turned to China Unicom because of the signal issue of IOS5.01.

I really hope IOS5.02 could turn my inophone 4S into a real phone.

Which Apple should think of ASAP is the signal problem with China Moblie.

iPhone 4S with suuuuuuper battery but without stable signal means nothing at all.

I asked a genius about DFU. He said it wouldn't work and you can't go back as the modemware has been pushed up.  Not sure how true it is.

    我想应该不是针对中国移动的。我在新加坡用Singtel的卡,一样的问题!

I am from Singapore using Singtel SIM card. My iphone4s suffers the same problem after upgrading to IOS5.0.1!

Last nite, I updated the new version of iTunes and sync my phone.

(I almost DFU my phone, lucky i failed and no clue how to do it)

This morning, my signal and connection to internet/browser/online apps and phone calls are working much better.

1st time in the last 10days I was able to obtain good signal inside the MTR stations/train.

I am not sure if China Mobile - Hong Kong fixed this or it was the iTunes sync.

However SMS - outgoing is still unavailable!!

The same sim card I am using also can be used in China (2 numbers, 1 card).

Last week, I cant even make a phone calls nor getting any SMS. I had tonnes of miss calls.

Can anybody in China check your latest status and give us an update???

    Thx

I updated itunes to 10.5.1, synced my phone. my china mobile sim soes NOT work still.  There is signal but can't make outgoing calls (call failed) and can't receive calls (unreachable).  Maybe another restore later if i can be bothered.

You are right, it works for me in Hongkong (better signal) but when I cross the border to China, the phone become useless !!!

I have the 2 numbers HK/CN in 1 card plan.

I received a call from China Mobile (HK) technical support, they claimed to be able to fix the problem very soon and persuade me to hold on to them.

I will wait until 5.0.2 iOS is out and see the outcome.

I wonder, China Mobile is the largest carrier in China, needless to say they are a listed company, why in the world they are not even able to properly connect their service with Iphone 4s, while other competiors, even less techngically advance than China Mobile are able to do so.  ???????

The conclusion and observation I gather since I first used iPhone 4s with iOS 5.0.1:

    1) iOS 5.0.1 is totally crap.

    2) China Mobile Carrier is not compatible with iPhone 4s with iOS 5.0.1

    3) Apple is doing a good job with iPhone 4s. Total failure...........booooooo
