Nov 16, 2011 7:00 PM in response to apledude1520by Phoney,I remember that the power supplies on those often suffered from cold solder joints, and you had to take them apart and apply new solder over the bad spots on the back side of the power board, which is the board that's vertical on the computer.

Nov 16, 2011 10:17 PM in response to Phoneyby Don Archibald,They were also susceptible to excess heat. Thos modls had no fan, as I recall - convection cooling only.
After I maxed the RAM on my Mac Plus to 4MB, the power supply burned out. Repair shop said it overheated. So, after getting the machine back I got a FannyMac, a fan unit that fit against the exhaust port under the handle at the top. This unit provided effective forced air circulation, particularly after I closed off the top louvers so that cooling air was drawn in the bottom and pushed out the top, cooling everything inside.

May 19, 2013 3:30 PM in response to apledude1520by jacob7ism,Your Macintosh probably overheated because those old models do not have a fan. You can use an external fan or you could simply bring it to a repair shop and get a fan that could be installed by the vent or in the machine itself. But, what do you expect! That Macintosh 128K is from 1984! And this is 2013! I hope your Macintosh will get fixed. It's terrible to see a computer go bye bye.
