Dec 20, 2011 7:39 AM in response to MjaMes1409by bruistopher,Don't get me wrong though. Music purchases off iTunes itself are going to be explicit if you purchased the explicit version. But your imported music files i.e. music CD's that are explicit. They are practically all clean. I just checked. I upset. Because I'm so use to listening to the way the music was meant to be. Which is explicit! Now I'm listening to clean lyrics which is annoying because there is way to many editings!
Ugh! Apple please fix this. I chose iTunes Match because I didn't want all my music taking my iPhone 4 storage space. This iCloud feature is awesome. I do know this is the early stages and your working on the important parts first. But this bug is serious though!

Dec 21, 2011 5:37 PM in response to bruistopherby iAmKingPhil, yea, the same thing happened to me and I didn't even realize it until yesterday when I bought the physical copy of Young Jeezy's new TM103.. Some songs in iCloud are edited, some aren't. It's so bizzare, and I don't understand why this would happen when Apple sells both explicit and clean in the iTunes store.. Something has to be done or else iTunes match is just ruining my iTunes library that is well over 12,000 songs.. Apple, this isn't like you.. HELP!

Dec 21, 2011 6:13 PM in response to Christopher Goldingby Slicecom,This is a MAJOR problem. I wouldn't be so concerned if I knew that they'd be able to fix it, but now that I have so many cleaned versions of songs, how will they ever be able to tell that I originally had the explicit versions to correct it!? The only thing I can think of is a master switch where you select if you want all of your matched songs clean or explicit.

Dec 22, 2011 10:27 AM in response to Slicecomby Mike Connelly,Keep reporting to apple, they definitely need to fix it. I would send lists with specific examples.

Dec 22, 2011 12:40 PM in response to Mike Connellyby bruistopher,Thanks. I just reported this problem to Apple. Hopefully they can release a fix for iTunes. It's very annoying. I had to avoid some of the songs that are now edited!
Everyone else that posted this so far. Just do what Mike suggested the more that report this problem the more Apple will be aware of the problem.

Dec 25, 2011 4:37 AM in response to Christopher Goldingby erinfrombroadford,i've downloaded a load of albms that have replaced the explicit tracks with censored versions, i've also deleted the original tracks, what will happen now? this is a huge error on apples part, the whole point of itunes match for me was to replace the low quality rips i made of cd's with better quality, now i'll have to re-rip the cd's anyway to get the explicit tracks back, what a waste

Not a good idea, definitely keep a backup copy of the full iTunes library.

Jan 10, 2012 9:36 PM in response to Christopher Goldingby OWN3D,Having the same issue, this is cropping up all over the forums. Music that was unedited went up to the cloud and came down edited/clean. Most irritating thing listening to scratched, bleeped music.

Feb 1, 2012 3:39 PM in response to Christopher Goldingby OWN3D,The is enfuriating, a 1GB download for 10.7.3, theres no mention of fixing iTunes Match.

Feb 1, 2012 4:14 PM in response to OWN3Dby Michael Allbritton,That's because any fixes to iTM will not come with an OS update. The type of fix we are are looking for will be done on the server side. We will probably not see an iTunes update to fix this.

Feb 3, 2012 7:40 AM in response to Christopher Goldingby Slicecom,A 9o5 Mac reader said he received a reply from one of Apple's engineers saying they're working on the problem: http://9to5mac.com/2012/02/02/apple-working-on-fix-for-itunes-match-bug-that-mat ches-explicit-songs-as-clean/
Hopefully we'll see a fix soon!

Feb 3, 2012 8:11 AM in response to Slicecomby Spencer Lewis,But does "working ont the problem" mean that they'll retroactively address people who have had their unedited songs replaced, or just moving forward there won't be a problem.
As it stands, I just "upgraded" all my files over the past few days, and am noticing this issue in places. Because it's near impossible to know what songs/albums it impacts, I think I may just restore my entire iTunes library from my Time Capsule and then wait until a fix is announced.

Feb 3, 2012 8:34 AM in response to Spencer Lewisby Slicecom,Hopefully the former, but I suppose we won't know until its released.
The only way I can think of that they can rectify it for people like us who "upgraded" our libraries only to get our explicit stuff replaced by clean is a master switch in the preferences where we can select if we want all clean or all explicit versions. There's no way for them to re-scan our libraries because they no longer exist in their original form.

I think this is the course of action to follow. And good on you for having a backup.
