Itunes not allowing me to put songs on my iPhone, saying they are only available on Cloud even though songs are on my hard drive and never uploaded to Cloud

This entire Match thing is a total bust, and now I can't even have my music on my iPhone like I used to. I used Match to get some better quality versions of some of my music. I deleted music off my iPhone with plans to selectively re-add music - it won't let me put ANY songs on my iPhone, saying that the song is only available on the Cloud and I have to download the song before I can sync it to my iPhone. iTunes is telling me this even on songs that I never uploaded/downloaded from the Cloud.

this is the worst. fix it, Apple.

In my case, the music that I'm trying to add is an MP3 voice recording that I created so as expected there wouldn't be an existing match on iCloud. However, I was under the impression that even custom content that can legitimately be played on the device, could be uploaded onto iCloud and then distributed among multiple devices. It seems that this is not the case as from iTunes it does not accept this song to be put onto iCloud in the first place.

But back to how this related to the current thread, since I can't use iCloud for this song, I am ok to just have it sit together with my other iCloud songs on the same device, e.g. this song could exist just locally on my iPhone while other content on my iPhone was part of iCloud. But apparently it's all-or-nothing type situation where if you first turn off iMatch to get that song on, and that song can't be put into iCloud, when you turn iMatch back on it will delete that song and replace with existing iCloud library. In addition, it seems that the previous locally stored copy of other iCloud songs that have been played will have been deleted and you need to re-download / stream it for use

Good from far but far from good.

I feel the same as all the above posters. Very disappointed.

I don't want to tell my wife I bought this and it doesn't work to our advantage.

my "cons" are

-takes way to much data,

-you have to switch way to many things on and off before you really us it.

-you cant use your IPhone to listen to your music, like you used to. has to be from cloud

-drag and drop or manual selection of music no more,

I want my money back "Apple"

iv switched it off

I had though I was doing something good, moving forward with technology.

this technology is just taking my time and money,

BS

fix it apple

I don't understand why I can't have iTunes Match on while also being able to manually load songs on to my iPod. I thought iTunes Match would allow me to have access to all my library through the cloud while also having songs on my iPod for those times I do not have access to any wireless signals. Yet, if I turn on iTunes Match on my iPod, it tells me it will replace my uploaded library with the cloud library. Why can't it just let me stream from my library in iTunes Match without having to replace the songs I have loaded up on my iPod?

Having to turn off iTunes Match off is not the answer, because then I am not being able to use a service I am paying for. I already use Carbonite, plus I backup on two external hard drives, so I don't need iTunes Match to be a backup for my music like some are using it for. I need it to allow me to wirelessly stream my music while not deleting any other music on my iPod, just like what Amazon Music player allows me to do on my Andriod phone. If Amazon can stream my music from the cloud without deleting music from my phone, while also not having to turn the service off and on all the time, why can't Apple do that?

Same problem as everyone else: I fell for the hype and promises of Apple. I have some old disks that I had bought and loaded to my library but which had some some tracks that could not be copied to my library - I ended up with tracks with no song but the name and details were all there. I was hoping Match would be able to fill in the blanks. Alas this fetaure seems like an epic fail.

To the problem of dragging songs to the iPhone like you use to be able to do: I also don't understand why you can't have the majority of your library in the cloud but have songs local for when there is no WiFi or cell coverage. Also I don't want to have to down through a cell provider when they are starting to get wise about unlimited data plans.

Solution: Turn off Match on iPhone, unplug, and plug back in. Drag and drop.

I am with everyone else here.

Basically, we all thought that iTunes match would be a nice "supplement" to our existing library. A way that we could have music on our devices (that we put there - iTunes or NOT iTunes) and then have access to our larger library remotely. When I activated this service, I did not realize that I had to give my iOS devices over totally to the cloud.

This application just does not make sense! It was a nice thought, but it needs some work. Apple needs to give us control of OUR OWN PROPERTY!

Refund?

I deliberately did not put the songs on my 64 gig iphone, but later decided to do it in case I was in a poor signal area and all my music was on the cloud. All I did was turn off match on both devices and all the songs loaded. I had the option of loading only some, but chose to load all. Then I turneed match back on. Easy.

BUT, I MAY GET A SMALLER CAPACITY IPHONE 5 WHEN IT COMES OUT TO SAVE MONEY, AND WILL STILL HAVE ALL OF MY SONGS AVAILABLE VIA MATCH. THE BEST PART OF MATCH IS THAT IF I DOWNLOAD A SONG ON THE PHONE OR LAPTOP IT IS ON MY DESKTOP IMMEDIATELY.
