Itunes not allowing me to put songs on my iPhone, saying they are only available on Cloud even though songs are on my hard drive and never uploaded to Cloud

This entire Match thing is a total bust, and now I can't even have my music on my iPhone like I used to. I used Match to get some better quality versions of some of my music. I deleted music off my iPhone with plans to selectively re-add music - it won't let me put ANY songs on my iPhone, saying that the song is only available on the Cloud and I have to download the song before I can sync it to my iPhone. iTunes is telling me this even on songs that I never uploaded/downloaded from the Cloud.

this is the worst. fix it, Apple.

When I try to put songs on my phone via wired (i.e. connecting directly to iTunes), I get the error message saying "the song is only available on the Cloud and I have to download the song before I can sync it to my iPhone." Then when I try to put songs on via WiFi sync, it shows the songs from iCloud, but they aren't downloading onto the device. The circles next to each song on the album stay blank. Then I get the same error message as when I plug it directly into my computer.

okay, i'm not great at this because i'm still trying to learn everything before i get itunes match. it sounds to me like you did itunes match but didn't re-download the songs to your itunes which is why you can't do it wired. if they're not on your itunes then it won't matter if you try to do it with wifi sync either. what you have to do, and you should really make sure you want to go this route, is turn on itunes match on your phone. then you will be able to get music on there. only thing is that i THINK it will delete whatever is currently on your phone and then allow you to download what you want from the cloud to the phone. i'm going to link the 2 best articles i have found about how to use match. the second one is about how to re-download all the songs to your computer. like i said i'm stll learning it so...

I haven't figured out how to directly put music onto my iphone plugged into the computer with itunes match turned on. However, I do know that it does not erase the songs already on your iphone. After you have turned on itunes match, through itunes, you must also turn it on from your phone in settings>music and all the songs that could be identified and were put into icloud can be access wirelessly.

Same issue here. Itunes does not allow me to transfer (copy) music to my iPad saying that the 'music is only available in the cloud and must be downloaded before it can be transfered.' The music however is on my computer thus I can't download it from iCloud. This is a recent issue and was working fine up to a few days ago...

I had the same issue. I had to turn off Match on my iPhone and completely restart the iPhone as well as turn off Match on my computer.

If Apple is listening, I'd like to be able to add/delete music manually from my computer, even with Match turned on, because my internet connection is too slow to be changing large amounts of music.

I am having the exact same issue. All of my music is on my harddisc of my macbook but somehow it thinks its only on the cloud. This becomes obvious when I turn off the wifi and all the songs still play perfectly on my computer. The only way to move music to my iPhone seems to be to turn off match in both iTunes on my mac and on my iPhone and then move music manually as per usual. Hopefully Apple realises this huge issue with iTunes match. It seems there has been almost no benefit to buying match and only a massive inconvenience with moving music.

Same here and I cannot believe I have been so stupid as to not checking the support forums before signing up to iTunes Match. about 18 months ago a combination of an itunes update and timemachine deleted almost all of my music - including purchased items. I was hoping that Match would reinstate the original lost songs but it didn't and then it was all compounded by this existing bug. I've turned Match off after 1 day - is there a way of getting a refund?
