Hi, thanks for the help. I don't get the same topics you do when I searched 'auto' in the finder. This is what I
see:-
I've tried searching for 'set up login options' but this didn't help. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks. Graham

Your picture did not post.
It will take me a while to restart my 10.6 system.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > System - Users & Groups.
Click on Current User and 'Change Password' and set a password if you haven't done this already during setup of your computer.
Click on Login Options (lower left). You may need to click the lock to make changes and enter your admin password.
Make the Tab 'Automatic Login: OFF' and the 'Display login windowas: List of Users'
Click the lock again to secure this area.
Now, when you turn on the computer, you will be required to to enter your user password each time.

FWIW, be careful when citing prefPanes. There's no Users & Groups under Snow Leopard and earlier, it's Accounts. U & G is a Lion construct.😉
Right, oops. Forgot they changes that.
many thanks, great help! Graham
