I-Cloud - upload download

Hi - new to I-Cloud, so I uploaded a Word and a Powerpoint document from my (work) Windows laptop so that I could work on it at home on my i-mac. The file uploaded just fine, but I can't download either of them to my i-mac. Is i-cloud not cross o/s compatible?? Or am I doing something qrong?

Thanks

I *think* you have to have the Apple iWork applications on your iMac (Pages, Keynote, Numbers) in order to download or upload. I'm having the same problem as you, and I do not have any of these programs on my iMac or my iPad. Frankly, I've been using Dropbox instead, which appears to have greater capability than iCloud for documents.

Thanks - I have drop box for my own stuff, but my company have locked down the admin rights on the laptop so I can't install it on there, so i-cloud seemed like the better option.

Shame...

When you say locked down, do you mean you cannot install the Dropbox folder on your laptop? If so, why not try the Dropbox website instead. Just go to Dropbox.com and log in. That's what I do on my office computer, albeit for different reasons. I'vw got the Dropbox App on my iPad, the Dropbox application on my iMac at home, and I use the Dropbox website to move stuff from my office computer to the other two devices.
