Are you not supposed to be able to open PDF files on the iPad2? I cannot open the PDF attachment in excite mail. It shows "open" (java script) in the pop up menu. The download scrolling starts, then stops and disappears. I need to read these files, and I know they're only a page or too long. What gives?

Yes - PDF files are viewable as attachments in the mail app. Have you tried restarting the iPad or resetting it? Are you sure that the files are not corrupt? Try opening them on your computer to check for sure. I know that doesn't solve the problem on the iPad - if there is a problem - but it will eliminate one possibility.
I have reset the iPad--twice--with no change. And yes, I opened the files on my Mac, so they're not corrupted.
