This is verbatim from the iTunes Match FAQ http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627

Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it.

But as soon as I try to add my 6th computer, I get the "You have reached the limit of 5 authorized computers" message.

What is Apple's definition of a device?

What is Apple's definition of a computer?

Do we really only get 5 computer and 5 "devices" (iPhones, iPad, iPod, etc...)

It would be nice if this was explained better.

I wouldn't have signed up for Match if I knew I wouldn't be able to add my other computers as an Match device.

Someone from Apple, please explain.

    Up to 5 computers.

So you could have 5 computer and 5 iDevices.

Or 1 computer and 9 iDevices.

    @ChrisCA,

    I believe you are correct.

But I would like 6 computer, and 3 iDevices.

The FAQ sure makes it sounds like I can do this.

Apple needs to reword their FAQ, or allow for 10 of any type of device/computer combo.

I'm having this exact same issue.  I wish Apple would allow you to manage each connect device through their website.... I don't have DRMed music and just want to connect to ITunes Match.

Having the same issue, I hope they fix it. So far Pandora, Spotify and Amazon give you more freedome to access music.

I had a similar issue here.  I had to go into my account and "Deauthorize All".  This just deauthorized whatever computers (not devices) were authorized - only 1 computer was listed in my account but apparently there were some older ones still associated but not named.  Once I did that I was able to add my new computer.  Thankfully it didn't delete my iTunes Match songs so I didn't have to go through that painful sync again from my master computer.

I'm not sure how, but I have 5 computers authorized, as well as *10* iDevices authorized under one account. I thought the only real limitation was on the number of computers you can authorize with an AppleID.

However, when I was trying to add iTunes Match to all of my devices, I only added 3 computers and 2 iPhones before it started telling me I was at my maximum number of allowed devices. I also then removed it from two of my computers a few weeks ago. Today I tried to add one of our iPod Touch's and it gave me the same error! I am worried that it is retaining the devices I removed Match from.
