Rapid Clicking sounds when scrolling web pages?!

Hi Guys,

just got me new Mac Pro today. Super pumped! That was until I noticed when ever I scrolled up and down web pages, I would get a rapid succession of popping/ interference sounds coming from the machine. The sound last as long as the page is scrolling? It also happened when I ran an OpenGL test in Maxon' Cinibench.

I would be extremely grateful for any help.

Thanks!

Open your machine and do the scrolling (you can't hurt it running with the side cover off). If you can be near the open machine while your are doing this listen carefully to try to locate the source of the sound.

Listen carfully specifically at the 5870. It is not unknown that the dinky fan in those things to be the source of the sound.

How many disk drives do you have? Try removing all but your boot drive. See if it is the source of the sound. If not start adding back each removed drive one by one.

Personally I'd put my money on the 5870 fan. I have a very low opinion of those **** fans.
