Q: Please sign in again.  iTunes Match has encountered an error.

Every time I launch iTunes and try to update iMatch, I receive the following error.

Please sign in again.

iTunes Match has encountered an error.  Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the iTunes Store Menu

I am running Windows 7.

This happens every time I launch iTunes.  I need to log out and log back in.

Why?   How can I fix?

Another 'me too' in New Zealand. Macbook Pro fully up to date. I've paid for iTunes Match, but I get the same error message whenever I try to activate it. Hopefully Apple will realise there's something wrong and respond soon.

Same problem but even worse, each time I sign in it asks me whether I want to add this new computer to iTunes match!!! With the same machine.

Anyway, I could go through the iTunes Match process anyway, I give up.

SAME HERE! I feel Apple needs to sort themselves out they should be prepared for the release and iTunes match and it should be able to cope! I virtually just chucked away $40....

Don't give up just yet. While I initially had the sign-in problem, it hasn't been an issue since the first week and, in fact, Match has worked flawlessly since then. The only corrective action I took was to inactivate another music-streaming program (AudioGalaxy) that was running in the background. I can't conclude that this was the source of the problem. My other guess is that Apple's servers were overloaded at the debut of the service as everyone attempted to match/upload their libraries at once.

    Well,

Another "Me too" to add to what seems a long list ....

MacBook Pro up-to-date (firmware, software) and since i signed on, I am asked to signoff and then on after an error has been encountered.

When i sgn on again, sometimes iTunes Match appears, sometimes not. When i go to my account window, I am asked to add this computer even though it is listed in the authorized list.

Hope we have a fix soon ....

    Daniel

PS: does Apple plan to extend the renewal date if this problem persists ?

For anyone who signed up outside of the USA or Brazil, looks like Apple made it available to some other countries by mistake.  If you're anywhere else it probably won't work just yet and they'll give you a refund.

I have a Workaround for you

    1. Deauthorize you Computer

    2. Log off from store

    3. Restart itunes (not sure if needed)

    4. Log into the Store

    5. Dont Authorize your computer! Go to the store and click the iMatch entry from the menue and add your Computer (Works for me on Win2008R2 x64, Win7 x64 and on my MBA Lion)

hope its the solution for you!

    @skat

Edit:  pls dont forget to like if this is also the solution for you.

    Another "me too". From Germany.

    Error Message in German:

"Bei iTunes Match ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Melden Sie sich im iTunes Store-Menü ab und dann wieder an und versuchen Sie es erneut."

@skat: Your workaround doesn't work for me.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me.  Neither did the update to iTunes 10.5.2.

Another "me too", sorry... I've uninstalled iTunes, deauthorized my computer, re-authorized my computer, reinstalled itunes, turned off genius, turned it back on, logged in, logged out, restarted, yadda yadda, blah blah blah... No similar streaming services running in the background.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I rarely need to wait for the men in the white coats to fix things, but it looks like I'm going to have to just wait this one out. It really seems like a server error, and not anything on my end. Any "fixes" out there might just be flukes. I've literally tried EVERYTHING. Funny, iTunes didn't hesitate to charge my debit card, despite the fact that I've never had the pleasure of enjoying this feature for even one minute before it started being a problem. Shame on you, Apple.

"iTunes Match has encountered an error. Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the iTunes Store menu and try again."

over and over and over again...

Are you running the latest version of iTunes? 10.5.2 was released today and that may factor into your connection issue. I agree that it's most likely a server issue on Apple's end.
