Why won't my music sync to my ipad?

Hi, I am having problems with itunes and my ipad. I am using a macbook pro with os Lion 10.7.2 , itunes 10.5.1 and an Ipad 2 with 5.0.1. Lately when I plug in my ipad it is taking media off of my ipad without me telling it to. When I attempt to resync the media back to my ipad it does not sync. I have tried to restore defaults on my ipad, i tried to uncheck the media, then recheck it to see if it will sync. Nothing is seeming to work. I own the Music, I took it of of CD's that I own, so its not illegal. I just do not understand. Please Help

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1

If you enabled iCloud there's no need to sync the iPad with a computer using iTunes.

Tap Settings. If you see iCloud under the Settings heading on the left then you are using iCloud.

To sync media using iCloud, tap Settings > iCloud. Enable whatever content there you want synced.

Tap Settings > Store to enable Music, Apps, and Books.
