I would love to run my audio from the television through my speaker system. But, I don't think it can be done. I can stream programs in the Apple TV since it streams wirelessly to the Express but figuring out how to get the channels in the TV streamed has me stumped.

Which Apple TV do you have, please describe your set up a little more and exactly what you are trying to acheive.
The Apple TV is last year's version (small black box). Express is connected to cable modem and connect via minipug to Klipsch promedia sound system. Trying to use these speakers instead of the internal speakers in the TV
all software is latest version
The Apple TV 2 won't stream to an Airport express, if your sound system supports an optical connection, connect it directly to the Apple TV.
