ITune keeps asking me to restore IPhone 4 after error in updating OS 5.0.1

I am having a very similar issue with my iPhone 4s. I switched it out at the apple store today, plugged it in (OSX) and restored it from my backup. The restore went fine, but instead of giving me access to the options, it wants me to restore it again, and again...

Yes same problem here. I have a 3GS iPhone. My IPhone 4 froze while updating to OS 5.0.1. I accidentally updated ITunes while I attempted to update the iPhone. The iPhone froze, so I've rebooted everything. The backup procedure did brought the iPhone back to life. But now I cannot use it with iTunes on my computer anymore. It keeps asking me to Set Up My iPhone by Restoring from a backup. I did this about 15 times now. Nothing helps. I can no longer move items between my iTunes on my computer and my iPhone. Thanks for any advise.

Please help me. Is it OK to choose "Option 2: restore as a new phone"? Will it erase all apps and songs in ITune Library or transfer them into IPhone?

After the restore is finished, it will sync with your iTunes library and transfer all apps, music and media to the phone. You do lose all saved app data and the organization of the app icons you may have done.

IMHO I've found a solution! (after reading more on the varios boards I did):

1. Dissconected the iPhone from the computer

2. On the iTunes Edit -> Preferences -> Devices (TAB)

3. Erased all of the listed Backups (NOTE! I did backup the iPhone 15 times already ...)

4. Clicked the Rest Synched History button

5. Connected the iPhone to the computer

PRESTO! Now it synched some apps and music and allowed me to use the iTunes on my computer as always.

Good call. After restoring my phone from the backup, I deleted all my backups then plugged it back in. Everything works now, if your going to do this though be sure your phone/ipod has all of the non app data on it before you delete your backup.

That is the only solution? There will be no way to restore normally?

This works perfectly. It restores EVERYTHING. all my music/pics/contacts all back on my iphone

This was the solution to my problem upgrading to OS 6 on my iPhone 4. After both the iTune and OS were upgrading at the same time, I lost everything. iTune brought my phone back but not my apps and keept asking me for restoring. Did it a few times until I gave up and saw this post. The great thing is that the apps are been restored to the same groups or folders I had before. I can see some previous deleted apps downloading too

I have spent the last 3 hours batteling with itunes to update my iphone. It got stuck in the restore mode, and it took about 5 attempts to fix it. Now that I have fixed it, itunes keeps asking me to update from last back up again and again and again. *** apple! Make your stuff easier to do and or fix. sooooo irratated this makes me NOT want the iphone 5.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. iTunes is still asking me to restore my phone, again, and I have no backups or sync data saved. Are there any other solutions that worked?

This didn't work for me either. Now I have no backups, and am worried that the data on my ipad is damaged. I would recommend not using the "delete backup" method.

Chosing the "restore as new ipad" option worked well, and restored all my data (pdf, class notes, etc) with folders exactly the way it was before. Go figure...

Select "Set up as new iPhone" option and then select a "Skip" option. This bypassed the whole set up process.
