can i add extra memory to my 13" Macbook pro

can I purchase an extra 4 gigs of memory and snap it into my macbook or do i have to take it to the genius bar for installation?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

you can do it yourself, instructions are provided in your owners manual which you can find here : http://support.apple.com/manuals/#macbookpro. You only have room for 2 ram sticks.

Many people swear by the memory you get at macsales.com. A guide will ask you the model and year and give you recommendations for memory that are tested to be compatible with your system. Should be about $60 (plus tax and shipping) for 8 GBs in two sticks.


Others swear by crucial.com (same guide to the correct memory). Same price, basically.
