Problem with installing Tiger...

Hi!

I have a fully working PB G4 1.67GHz DL with 120GB HDD and 2GB of RAM.

Currently I am working on Tiger (10.4.11) withut any problem, but as I bought myself a new MacBook Pro I wanted to pass this PB to my mum and I need to reinstall the OS. I have original Tiger Install CDs (4 of them) that I bought some time ago for my G3 iMac. Yesterday I have sucesfully installed the OS on the iMac, and today I wanted to do the same on PowerBook but no luck - the installation hangs on a blue screen, just before the "Choose you language" screen. Tried to change the RAM, remove some sticks, ran memtest - everything seems to be fine with it. I have laso tried with Panther - the same, only this time the installation hangs on the blue screen with message "starting installation" and progress bar visible.

I would install the OS in Target Disk Mode from the imac but unfortunately my iMac has dead FireWire Ports, and I have also bought yesterday Leopad DVD for this PowerBook, and even if my iMac would have working FW port, I wouldn't be able to install it as the imac has a G3 inside.

Any ideas how to fix this problem? Other than that computer works well without any freezes, restarts etc, it's just I can't install OS again on it.

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 1.67GHz, Hi-Res, 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD

What color are the CDs? If black they are the retail version that you need. If gray, they won't work.

After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US

Look at this link Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Installing Software Support Page

You can also download the Tiger Installation and Setup Guide

BTW - The System installers license allows an install on only one Mac, unless it's a family pack (5 installs).

 Cheers, Tom 😉
