This meesage during Time Machine backup: "Time Machine could not complete backup. Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder." What do I do?
Reset (A4) works like a champ. Thanks. This is the second time this has happened using Lion. Is it a s/w problem, do you think?
Thanks for the feedback. I haven't a clue, since I don't use TM, preferring multiple, up to date clones, which are immediately bootable and don't need restoration. In my almost fifty years of dealing with computers, I've never had any need to go back in time to find something, so TM isn't necessary.
FYI...After the reset I neglected to go back and repair the disk, and after a few good backups I got the same problem back. So...this time I repaired the disk and all seems OK now after two good backups.
Your thoughts re cloning make some sense and I may use that approach after this external drive dies, which it could be doing. I've cloned the iMac on a separate drive using CCClone.
How often do do you run your clones?

I usually use CCC to clone the documents volumes every two or three days and the boot volumes after I install updates.
