Added. Are you an Apple Engineer? Lol, I afraid I phrased it wrongly.

I tried this fix first on the first black 4s I had. Settings/General/Siri/Raise to Speak = OFF.

    Did not solve the issue.

Got a new WHITE 4s, same everything else and it did not stop the battery drain.

The battery issue is AFFECTED by ANYTHING that has a draw on it, expecially proximity sensors. Turning this off might HELP, but it is not the solution.

The main problem might be: TWO antenna assemblies on at all times when there only used to be one.

The other issues could be defective antenna assemblies that are drwaing more power than deisnged to, Apple never upgraded the battery to handle more draw with a new chip and both antennas.

Worst case: defective antennas and defective/underpowered batteries

i didnt say this is the whole fix !

and you cannot rechare the phone in so short period!

FIRST : disable the bootom siri option !

SECOND : Let battery drain down until iphone turns off ( best way brightness full, camera on )

THIRD: let it turend off for 5 min then plugg in to charge!( fully charge)

Here is what I really think happened (and granted, I have not opened up the phone to see what is what yet):

-Apple decides to put in TWO different cell technologies into a phone to save manufacturing costs that only had one or the other in the past: CDMA and GSM.

-This is the major difference other than the main chip from the 4 and the 4 is not half as bad as the 4S in battery problems...my old 4 is still doing quite well not being on a charger for three days.

-The battery is now powering TWO different cell antennas.

-If the battery was exactly the same as the 4, then this is our drainage issue and Apple's only solution will be to find a software switch to turn one of the antennas OFF.

-Even if they incorporated a new battery with a somewhat higher capacity, it was not strong enough to handle the draw for two antenna aseemblies.

I am on AT&T, why do I need the other antenna on at all, ever? Verizon's customers may need it for travel.

    -The other options are worse

-they have a defective antenna assembly that is quickly draining batteries on most phones around the world

-they have a massive set of batteries that are defective

    -or both

Now some more illogic from Apple: If it was software, why are they instantly replacing so many phones? Is this just to appease us and/or to end with the perfect excuse to remanufacture phones for Applecare replacement as this looks like its going to be replaced, a lot.

    COOMMEE DOWNNN!!!

we are all sitting in the same boat ! if apple doesnt give us a new iphone ore something else (or a good software update ) they will loose 10 % of ther iphone buyers at least !

i know they know that they have to do something!!!

This will only reduce the drain on the battery: if the raise to speak option is turned off and the phone does not kill the process, it will be killed when you let the battery die out completely.

That is what's happening, and since the process is now off from letting the phone die, it is not back on again when you charge it up.

I still think its the dual antenna and the battery can't handle the dual draw.

They will have to find a software swtich to turn off one of them.

yes that was one of my guesses to ..... remember the keynote? they didnt say that it has a new battery... only that the hardware and software team have got a great battery life ....

Guys, you really are getting silly.

Snesor on alert when as long as the screen is activated, tthe IR sensor unless you’re a snake, fish, mosquito, or cheap digital camera).

    This is normal.

    Thanks and good luck.
