Headphones through dock connector adapter?

My iPod Touch's headphone jack is broken. It is a 3rd gen, so most likely out of warranty. Would it be possible for Apple to repair it? If not, can anyone recommend an adapter to allow me to plug headphones into the dock connector? I have seen some connectors that are male dock connector to male headphone jack, but I was hoping to find a male to female connector.
