Non support of external Bluetooth GPS--- WHY???

I have an iPad2 wifi I want to use as a moving map system for flying. Apple does not support external Bluetooth GPS units, .... WHY????

I don't want to have to buy another BT GPS, as I already have 4 that SHOULD work. Short of Hacking the iPad, there is only one BT GPS that works.

I'm dissapointed, and may have to return this iPad if I can't get it to work with what I already have.

Any ideas??

Thanks.

External BT GPS units do work with the iPad.

You already haver one? Which brand/model?

Short of Hacking the iPad, there is only one BT GPS that works.

The iPhone when tethered will pass GPS info.

The Dual XGPS150 and GNS 5870 MFI

Chris, None of my BT GPS units below will link to the iPad. I have had no problems at all with linking them to any other PDA, Laptop, or Computer that I've tried. (OK, all PC's)

The GNS 5870 will connect to Apple only.

The Dual XGPS 150 has a switch to change from Apple to all others.

I don't want to have to buy another BT GPS just for this iPad.
