How do I get my word documents on my iPad

There are some apps that will help you do this via WiFi or you can email it to yourself.

Getting the Word doc onto your iPad is only half the battle. Keep in mind that without an App, you will not be able to EDIT a document. You'll need Pages or another app that has an editable word processor bult in.

I use documents to go for my word documents. It is a paid app, but you can access and edit word documents, as well as it has a desktop app that allows you to wirelessly sync items between your device and computer

If you have iOS5 you have iCloud. If you create an iCloud account, you can upload your Office documents to the iCloud, and they will be pushed to your iPad. Any changes you make in the documents using your iPad will be synced with the iCloud, and can be downloaded again. If you have an iMac, this syncing is fully automated between all your machines.

This is what Apple says, but what they don't tell you is that you still need to have Pages on one or both machines. I tried what you suggested and could not get them to load much less sync, since neither my iMac nor iPad have Pages.

Since iCloud ate all my contacts, I don't really trust it. IMHO they have some serious bugs to work out.

Experiment with sure. Depend on? I wouldn't just yet.

Ah, yes, ofcourse you will need Pages to work on the docs. I don't know whether Pages for iMac is expensive, but on iPad it has cost me about 7 euros, I think. On my PC I use MS Office.
