I bet you do have a neighbor. And he is probably wondering why he cant find his device on his system! Is your network seciured at all? I think you need to turn on at least modest security on your wifi.
yeah I have a secure wifi. That's why this is so strange to me. I thought AirPlay was secure, but if neighbours devices can show up this is bad news. Thx for the reply :-)
You can get more details about "Sonny" by using the Airport Utlity apps (Mac or iOS).
The icon looks like a speaker. Do you have an old audio network lurking around? If you go to network, and search, is there another strong signal showing up? If so, that might be a starting point.
I know apple tv rsspects security, but i wonder if old audio network systems didn't do that. Your initial comment is right. Strange.
I have no AirPort devices , I have a netgear wifi router and its secure with the best password. thx for the answer though :-)
yeah it seems to be a speaker icon. No I have no old audio networks show up on my network list. Thing is, I just now updated my apple tv to 4.4.3 and the "Sonny" disapeared. So I guess this could have been some strange thing from my Apple TV device. Thanks for the reply :-) I will keep a lookout in case the device shows up again.
cheers
fred
