I updated my ipad (not ipad2) to ios 5.0.1 yesterday. Now I see lots of red lines in the screen. I can still see the images, but portions will be red. The app icons have red halos that look like the rings of saturn. The lines move with the graphics on the screen, so it is not an issue of dead pixels. I tried to do a restore and it did not help. Any suggestions?

Having a similar problem, although it doesn't happen all the time, I get lines of red pixels and halo effects around icons and graphics. I tried restarting but no change. It comes and goes, but I haven't figured out what's triggering it yet.

I came home the other day and my kids told me, "Dad, we fixed the ipad by dropping it again." I suspect the ios5 updrade was a red herring, and in fact it was a hardware issue, perhaps a loose connector somewhere.
