I connected my 13in macbook pro to my tv with the hdmi cord and it worked fine but after I disconnected it the screen on my laptop is smaller. I've restarted it twice but its still the same, how do I fix it?

Go to System Prefs and choose Display. The native resolution for that machine is 1280 X 800 so select that.
